Dr. Pramit Malhotra serves as director of the Malhotra Center for Plastic Surgery in Jackson & Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is one of only a few physicians in the country who is double Board Certified in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and Plastic Surgery, an educational path that took eleven years of training.  He also serves as the medical director of Fran Coys Medical Spa in Ann Arbor.

All patients should remember the 5 "musts" before  having plastic surgery:

1. Be comfortable with your surgeon and his staff.  It takes a team to take care of you, and you should like the whole team.  Every question of yours should be answered.

2. Choose a surgeon that is not just board certified, but board certified in plastic surgery. Board certified cosmetic surgeons can come from dentistry, general surgery, and even the obstetrics field.

3. Make sure your surgeon is current in all techniques. You should have all options discussed with you even if the surgeon doesn't offer those services.

4. Look at the surgeons' pictures with an expert eye.  Study the photos and see if the surgeon's sense of beauty matches your own.  You'll be surprised how many unnatural results surgeons post as their best.

5. Mobilize your support team to help you for a few days.  Enjoy the time after cosmetic surgery as a time to relax and recuperate.  Use the time to pick up a neglected book, write a letter, or have a movie-a-thon.
